With the summer the meetings increase, the consumption of drinks and the displacements in car. One of the great protagonists of summer is beer, but how much can we drink and how to consume it to enjoy without questioning health, silhouette and safety behind the wheel?
Assertiveness is an emotional behavior that involves expressing feelings / EFE.
When the temperatures rise, it is nice to see how the foam of the beer that we have to drink rises to quench our thirst and refresh our heated body.
Where should the limit be set? How much so that a brief moment of pleasure is not transformed later into a headache due to the subsequent headache of drunkenness or the disgust of verifying that we have gained weight ?
According to research conducted by Dr. Ascension Marcos, director of the Institute of Food Science and Technology and Nutrition (ICTAN), moderate beer consumption, both traditional and non-alcoholic, does not change the circumference of the arm, hip and waist, nor does it cause Alterations in the Body Mass Index or BMI (a formula to know if a person is overweight and to what degree).
Another work by the professors Rosa María Ortega Anta, from the Complutense University of Madrid, and Dr. Lluís Serra Majem, from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, concludes that those who ingest beer moderately tend to have better eating habits, a composition more adequate body, higher levels of HDL or good cholesterol and lower LDL or bad cholesterol than non-consumers.
These results may be due to the low caloric amount of this fermented beverage , 90 kilocalories (Kcal) per 200 milliliters, according to Dr. Fernando Goñi, of the Endocrinology and Nutrition Service at the Hospital Basurto (Bilbao).
Goñi believes that “even in the diets of patients suffering from obesity problems, the intake of a moderate amount may be included, provided that it is not contraindicated by a medical problem .”
Moderate beer consumption for them and them
In the manual ” Take care of your weight away from home “, Goñi compiles a series of tips where he explains that accompanying a glass of beer with a small portion of food can be a healthy practice, provided that you choose low-calorie foods and poor in fats.
Once the benefits of moderate consumption and a healthy diet have been known, when can a person be considered to be drinking too much beer, that is, an amount that may be harmful to their health, body weight and sobriety when driving?
The moderate amount of beer “is estimated to be 300-450 milliliters per day of this drink for a man and up to 300 milliliters for a woman, ” explains Dr. Jesús Román Martínez, president of the Scientific Committee of the Spanish Society of Dietetics and Food Sciences, SEDCA.
This is the moderate consumption that is recommended not to exceed in adults and healthy people, provided there is no other alcoholic intake per day.
For this expert, in general and from the nutritional point of view, most of the beers are very similar and “you have to go to beers a bit ‘special’, such as those that contain fruit juices or are very fermented and rich in alcohol , so that there are significant differences. ”
“The biggest difference, of course, is that it is ‘without’ beer (alcohol) whose caloric value is very small, around 14 Kcal per 100 ml, compared to 45 Kcal per 100 ml of normal beer, while the rest of the nutritional components do not vary between these varieties, ”he says.
